Calla reluctantly heads to Alaska after learning that her estranged father is sick, agreeing to spend time with him and get to know him after twelve years of no contact.

There are SO many things to love here, but let’s start with the fact that I stayed up all night reading this book and literally could not put it down.
I loved the YEARNING, tension, angst, and all the family drama. You know that feeling when you’re so invested in a book that you start experiencing the characters’ stress and heartache physically—your chest feels warm and tight, your stomach is in knots, and you’re just emotionally wrecked? I had all of that. And I loved it.
I also loved both main characters. Calla was incredibly easy to like. She’s essentially a slightly spoiled city girl who finds herself completely out of her element, but watching her grow throughout the story was one of my favorite parts. As she builds a relationship with her father and adjusts to life in Alaska, she starts to figure out what actually matters to her, who she is, and who she wants to become.
And Jonah is exactly my kind of grumpy, rugged hero. The chemistry and tension between these two were SO good. You could feel their attraction simmering underneath every interaction, and I was completely invested in watching them slowly give in to it.
It’s not often that I love a low-spice romance book that makes me wait until 76% of the way through for the payoff, but this was masterfully written and paced.
I also loved that this wasn't just a romance. It’s a story about family, forgiveness, finding yourself, and figuring out what actually matters. Watching Calla reconnect with her dad and discover a sense of belonging was just as meaningful to me as watching her fall in love with Jonah.
This was one of those books that completely consumed me, and I already know I’m going to be thinking about Jonah and Calla for a long time.

I went into this expecting a cozy Alaskan romance, and I definitely got that—but I also got a beautiful story about personal growth, family reconciliation, finding a sense of belonging, and figuring out who you are and what you actually want from your life.
